Jenny's 2007 BMW F650GS
This bike would be an excellent choice for a beginner. Easy to ride, but lots of power. Can go 80 mph on the freeway all day long. And it excels on gravel, dirt, and rocky roads.
This is the bike I rode to Alaska and many other trips. No other brand or model dual of sport compares to the BMW quality and reliability. The year 2007 is the last year for the Rotax engine made in Austria. After that, they come with engines made in China that don't have nearly the same reliability, nor are they nearly as good on gas mileage.
Currently 42,000 miles. I know this bike inside out, and keep it in primo shape. When something gets a bit worn, I replace it with a new part. So it needs nothing. It's ready for adventure.
Extras:
Optional Dirt tires: I will install a nearly new K60 Scout Heidenau Tire on the rear for an extra $150. And a nearly new TKC-80 front tire for an extra $100. (you can also have the street tires)
