Bristlecone Update

We are no longer supporting the Bristlecone Brown fabric.

In the past we were selling a specialized material for the quilt's top layer called Bristlecone Brown.

This update is for those customers who bought a Quilt Kit with the Bristlecone option.

In the past we were sending free upgrades to people who wanted to return the Bristlecone. But in fact we received only two complaints about it not being breathable enough. Most people simply wanted our free upgrade.

We feel that we have given people more than enough time to ask for a replacement. It has been almost a year now. So if you bought a Quilt Kit with the Bristlecone option, and find that you do not like the Bristlecone, you will have to replace the fabric at your own cost. We are no longer supporting this option.

"Thanks for the great products. Even with the too warm layer of Bristlecone Brown, the [2-person] quilt was better than any sleeping bag we've used." Tony S. and Anne W.

"Hi Ray & Jenny, I just wanted to say how much I've enjoyed your products. I'm still very happy with my Bristlecone Brown quilt. For its weight it's by far the best sleeping system I have!!!! And I have several sleeping bag systems from major brand companies. I really like the color! Through some experiments with my quilt I found I gain about 1/2 lb of moisture overnight -0 temps." - Jeff K.

"This summer I did a trip with the kids in Scotland, and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Ray-Way kit throughout, and I used a Bristlecone-topped quilt, and it was great. I think the Bristlecone just needs more experience to keep it dry, and in return for that it offers greater warmth than the other fabrics. Sometimes when I woke up in the mornings, I turned it inside out to air it while I snoozed!" - Mike G.

"Was able to do the JMT solo and unresupplied in 11 days in 2007, due in large part to your techniques. Sewed one of your alpine-upgrade quilts w/Bristlecone Brown in 2007; it works great!" Bryan A.
